Ex to claim payments on his taxes

Posted on: 24th Dec, 2012 10:00 pm
Please help… We are legally separated. The house is still in both our names until the property gets sold off. I still live in the house and also pay the mortgage and the taxes. But my ex wants to claim it on his taxes. He just told me that he is entitled to claim the house on his taxes. I say he can't because I make the payment. Please clarify.
Hi Nero!

Welcome to forums!

If your ex is not making the mortgage and tax payments, then I don't think that he will be able to claim them on his taxes.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Hi Nero,

You can contact a tax adviser and take his opinion in this regard. He will be able to better assist you in this regard.

Thanks
