Contact landlord for security deposit

Posted on: 20th May, 2013 02:35 am
How long should I wait to contact my landlord for security deposit? My lease ended in April and my agreement states that I will receive the stipulated sum within 30 days. I haven’t received anything yet.
As 30 days are over as per your contract, you should immediately contact your landlord and ask him to send your dues ASAP.

Hi Bob!

Welcome to the forums!

If you do not get any response from the landlord within a few days, then you should take help of an attorney in this regard.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

I would send the landlord a nice certified letter requesting your deposit within a certain time (10 days from date of letter) and give him your mailing address. If he hasn't responded, you can take him to small claims court.
