Is it important to have a lease agreement? Presently we don't have a lease agreement with our landlord. What can happen if don't have any such agreement?
You're in a tough spot unless you have a written lease agreement. The landlord can ask you to leave the property any day without any prior notice if you don't have a lease agreement. To be on the safer side, sign an agreement with your landlord.

I agree with what Niicss has said. You may always remain in the threat of eviction. You should negotiate with the landlord and both of you should come to a deal and sign the agreement.
