Security deposit of rental property

Posted on: 07th Aug, 2013 12:41 am
Hello there... We have been renting a property for the past 3 years. We have a regular payment history. Never defaulted on the loan payments. I heard that after such a long time in a rental with a good history you may ask your landlord to give back the security deposit back without moving out. Is this true and if so what is the time frame? Thanks.
Well, you must have heard it wrong. Whatever the case may be, you will get back the security deposit only after leaving the rental property.

Hi PRIM!

Welcome to the forums!

I agree with Niicss that you will only be to able to get back the security deposit after you leave the property. The landlord will see to it whether or not there are any damages to the property. If there are no damages, then you will get back the deposit amount in full.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
