application for section 8 voucher

I would like information on applying for Section 8 voucher
Orange County, Ca
Hi sealbeach.

Welcome to the forum.

Section 8 voucher program is a housing assistance program for low-income renters. If a person has low income that is below 50% of the median Income in his area then he can qualify for this program. Lot of investors prefers section 8 voucher. You should contact your state Public Housing Authority (PHA) and consult with them directly. Get more information about it at http://www.hud.gov/offices/pih/pha/contacts/

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best of luck,
Larry

Welcome Diana.

As far as I know, there is a minimum employment requirement as per the HUD rules which you need to satisfy in order to qualify for Section 8 Voucher.

According to the HUD regulations, at least one adult member who is a co-owner of the home should be employed full time currently. The same member should have been employed for 1 year prior to homeownership assistance.

Full time employment is defined by HUD as not less than an average of 30 hours per week. Any family member can be considered as employed even if he has been through a gap in employment, provided:
  • The employment gap doesn't exceed 30 calender days

  • There has been only 1 gap in employment for the past 12 months

  • The employment gap shouldn't take place within 3 months prior to applying for Section 8 voucher
Thanks.

Hi Diamonique Jones!

Thanks,
