My great grand parents left property without a will. One person have paid the tax for 20 years. Does he own the property or can he get some lor all of his money back. the property is in Louisiana

Depending upon your state laws regarding adverse possession, the person who pays the taxes for 20 years may be able to claim the property as his/her own. If that person is an heir to the property, then he or she would be able to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred into his or her name.

Property taxes should be paid on time. If you do not pay the property taxes on time, the tax department can place a lien on it. If you want to adverse possess the property, then you'll have to occupy the property for 10 years. For further information, you can check out the given page:
