Yes Theresa, for changing name in the property records, a new deed is to be recorded. The new notarized deed is to be recorded with your county recorder's office.

I too think a quit claim deed will serve your purpose. Read more about it from here: How do I change the name on the Tax Bill Or Ownership Records?

When you buy or sell your home, the name and address on the tax bill is not automatically changed. You should contact the Assessing Department and submit a name/address change application to the County Treasurer's Office.

And inorder to change the name, a new deed should be recorded. Record the notarized deed in the County Recorder's Office along with a preliminary change in ownership report as said by Miller.
