How long after signing does it usually take to get the keys?

Question about buying a home!! We have signed the paperwork and are waiting for the seller to sign and close so we can get the keys to our new home. The title company is in contact with us and they are still waiting for the seller to sign as well(of course), the request for insurance has already come through and we are bound and all the info was sent by the insurance company.

Our lock expires in 4 days.........

Anyone have any experience with this? Any idea on how this usually works? I am not sure who the actual seller is, my wife is handling that part of everything. We are starting to get anxious though, the day is coming soon where we are not locked into the house.

However, the house appraised at exactly what we are buying it for, so the seller cannot sell it for more than we are paying for it (from what we understand).

Any help, thoughts or experiences?

Oh, we have already wired the 5% down too. After some research by my wife and myself it seems the title company is messing around and holding things up.

Anyone have any experience with this?

You can can have your attorney pull the contract if they are past tine of the essance

We really want the house and are getting a great deal on it, so we do not want to do ANYTHING the might risk getting the house.

This is, obviously, our first home so this is all new ground for us.

well you can have the attorney threaten tham a little thats his job to make sure it goes smooth

Well, in our case we are not using an attorney. We have an agent if that is what you mean, I know that different states have different requirements, in CA an attorney is not required.

Hi

Even though your state laws do not require you to hire an attorney in this situation. Getting a lawyer to represent you in this sort of transactions is always worth your while. They can take care of these problems on your behalf and make sure your interests are safeguarded. You should first talk with the title company and the seller and check what's causing this delay. If they fail to provide any satisfactory answer, you should consult an attorney.

jay, i would say that normalcy would provide you with the keys to your new home at the closing table. in other words, you sign your documents, proffer your money, shake hands with the loan officer, realtor, attorney and maybe the sellers too and walk away with all of the keys to the house so that you can move in whenever you like and be assured that the sellers will have vacated.

2 weeks is ridiculous, and you need to jump all over everyone involved to get this straightened out.

I know this is a old post, but for people looking for info like I was, here is my story...
Signed on a Friday Morning, deposited given at time of signing. Was told would get keys by Wednesday. It is Wednesday now and we were told that the house has still not funded and we are not getting key till Friday possibly Monday. BS is all I can say!!

I can understand what you're going through. You should contact your lender and ask him to complete the process asap so that you can move to that home easily.
