Taking a name off a deed - How can it be done?

Posted on: 08th Jul, 2009 04:42 pm
a few years ago i put my son & daughter on my deed (quit claim deed) my son is disabled and my daughter who lives out of state was going to come to florida and care for him. since then she has changed her mind. how can i take her name off my home. my home does not have a mortgage. thanks for any info
Hi suegenet,

You cannot take your daughter's name off the deed. Your daughter will have to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you or your son. You'll have to request her to sign a quitclaim deed in your favor. Once she does so, you'll have to notarize and record the deed.

Thanks

Quit claim deed is option as all are suggesting.i donot thing the much complicated problem unless and untill your daughter is willing to take off her name.
Afterall its her decision will important for you to take further action. so convince her for it that will help you.

my father need advice in removing the name of his ex girlfriend from the deed to his home..she has moved to canada. how do we remove it?

Welcome truesoul,

The ex-girlfriend will have to sign a quit claim deed in your father's favor. This will help your father in removing her name from the property deed. Unless she signs the deed, your father won't be able to remove her name.

Hi Guest,

Your grandfather will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office in order to remove his deceased wife from the property deed.

you'll have to refinance the mortgage in your name and then ask the person to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you.
