Lost title on mobile home

Posted on: 18th Nov, 2007 06:41 pm
A friend purchase a mobile home and lost the title on this home. How can the title be replaced when she does not know the name of the person on the title. The mobile home should have a number on a plate but also unable to locate that. What can be done? Can anyone help.
Hi,

Welcome to this forum.

If your friend lost the title of the mobile home, she can replace it through processing a duplicate title application at a Secretary of State Branch office.

"when she does not know the name of the person on the title."
But I do not understand what you are trying to say here. Is it that you are not finding the previous owner of the mobile home and also lost the documents of the title?

Thanks,
Larry

Hello Eexplosion,

Was the title not transferred to your friend when she purchased the home?

She might obtain a duplicate title from the State Branch Office. She can also do a title search with the help of a title company to know the name of the person on the title.

If the manufacturer or the dealer is known to her, then he might be able to give the data plate.

Hi Larry,

She is not able to process a duplicate title because do not know the name on the title (because lost the title). Yes do not know the previous owner and lost the title.

Jenkins

She was given the title but did not put it in her name before she lost it.
Do you feel a title company will help me find the name on title because that is all she needs to take to DMV for a duplicate title.

The manufacturer is "buddy" and they are probably non exsistent.

Please help.

Hi,

You can take help from the title company to search the public records and legal documents related to a property and thus you can get the name of the previous owner. The name of the previous owner is surely recorded. So contact with the title company and see if it helps you or not.

Best of luck,
Larry

If she never transferred ownership to herself, then she doesn't own it.

If she doesn't own it she cannot sell it to you.

Thank you all for your help. I will go to a title company. I think that is my only resort.

Thanks again.

Hi. My parents passed away and left me a mobile home in Pennsylvania. I live in New Jersey. I cannot find the tittle. I went tag and tittle in Pennsylvania and they found my fathers information to be archived. I paid a fee to get the information released from archive and still I have no title. I have the vin number and am at a loss. How do I get a duplicate tittle?

Hi

You ought to contact the Dept. of Motor Vehicles to get a duplicate title for the mobile home. You'll be required to fill out a particular form to request them to issue a duplicate title. You may also be required to provide certain documents in support of your owenrship.

Hello, My parents have a mobile home on a peice of property that we own outright. The Mortgage company that gave them the loan for the Mobile home forclosed on it but never came to reposses it. It has been several years since that has happenend and now we want to sell the land itself but the mobile home is still on the property. Iwent to the mortgage company and asked them to pick it up but they told me they had nothing more to do with it. Can I still sell the property with the mobile home on it?

Hi,

Do you still hold the title to the property? Have you checked with the land records or the DMV if your mobile still has got the mortgage lien on it? If the mortgage company is no longer interested in repossessing the home, can they release the lien from the property?

go to the tax peaple. The name is on the statement. Also is public record. The county Auditor has that info. Your address & lot location should be all you need.
