Everhome Mortgage Company - Share your experience

Posted on: 20th Nov, 2009 02:38 am
I have taken a mortgage from Everhome Mortgage Company and have been paying off the dues successfully over the years. Even in this period of real estate crisis, I've tried paying my monthly mortgage dues on time. This August, I received a call from them notifying me that they did not receive my mortgage payment. I was shocked as I had sent them the payments on time. I put a stop payment on the original check that I had sent them. The next day, I sent them a new check. However, it was late and they were charging me late fees.

A few days later (round about a week), to my surprise, I received the original check with the notation "Lost in mail". The check had also the date stamped on the back of the check 08/11/09. It was considered late on 08/19/09. I've sent them numerous faxes asking them to reverse the late fees that they've charged me. But they never respond to my faxes. A few days back, I send them another check with a copy of the back of the check so that Everhome would get a proof and reverse the late charges. But I was wrong. They now claim that they did not receive that fax. I've decided to send the copy of the check once again in the hope that they would get it and take action.

Anyone with similar experience dealing with Everhome?
And bad service will cause me to take my business elsewhere. You'd think that managers would make it a point to teach their employees the basics of being in customer SERVICE so that they could retain some of the business they inevitably lose.

Everhome is outsourcing their claims department that deals with insurance claims. They gave us the address to send our insurance check to. We sent it certified mail (THANK GOD) and it was sent back to us due to the outsource change over. In the mean time all of our other information has been "DUMPED" from the system. That means they don't have the certificates of completion sent by the contractors, or the claims from the insurance company and all must be sent AGAIN!! In the mean time the contractors are waiting to get paid.

Compliant #2 Everhome does not have a good bi-weekly payment program. Most mortgage companies allow you to make bi-weekly payments without paying an additional fee, but not Everhome. They collect the payments through a third-party vendor that charges a percentage of the payments. OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

Complaint #3 they don't have any refinancing programs for families who owe more than their house it worth. If you have your mortgage through them, you are stuck!!!!

Please, please, please do yourself a huge favor and get your mortagage through a large company that won't sell your mortgage to a dumpy little company like EVERHOME. They are simply the worst banking company I have ever had the dissatisfaction of dealing with. Go with USBank, Wells Fargo, or CITIMortgage. You'll be happy you avoided the Everhome NIGHTMARE!!!!

Ever Home Mortgage is in the shady business practice of telling people that they did not receive your fax with important info, when you fax that info to the company many times. There are far better mortgage companies that work with a wonderful program called HOPE that helps good families stay in their home as well. The first step you can do to prevent family homelessness, is report shady mortgage company business practices. Let's stand up for our rights America!

Last night, my Mom and Dad were crying they said that we might be homeless. I am a young teen age girl and I keep hearing the name Ever Home mortage around my house. My Mom just left the room. I was going to do Facebook but I saw this. I know this company. You all will not work with my parents when my Dad has a job now and wants to pay you all. You always lied about not getting things my parents sent to you early to stop our house from being taken away. My friends and I at school should get together and picket your company but I don't know if teenagers can do that. I am crying now. I wonder why.

Welcome Bella,

I can understand your frustration and how sad you must be feeling when you think about losing your home. Did Everhome mortgage company gave your parents any reason as to why they won't work with them? Your parents should contact them and negotiate with them so that they get a payment plan to save the property.

Unfortunately, Adonis, we all know too well that lenders are inefficient. They hire the wrong people to do the jobs because they want to save money; they hire the wrong people to teach those other wrong people, again because they promote from within the ones who've outstayed their welcome in their previous jobs, or hire from elsewhere the kind of folk who couldn't teach a paper bag to open and close. Now there's a metaphor!

Bella, I'm sorry that you and your family have to go through all this - as for picketing - anyone can picket; just be careful and don't do anything wrong or dangerous. Make sure your friends are smart enough not to get into the wrong type of thing when they picket (if you do this). I don't know where you'd have to go to get it done, but you'll have to look up an address I suppose.

Have your Mom and Dad call a lawyer, their congress-man or woman, or anyone else who might have an interest in helping them work out this problem.

There are far too many factors that come into play when the lenders are trying to figure out how to deal with issues like this, and many reasons why they might deny someone the opportunity to try to get back in their good graces. I'm sure they let your Mom and Dad know why - encourage them not to accept it but to fight back (again).

I needed to contact them regarding some problem explain later. I could not find an email address on their web site. I then decided to fax them my complain. I used the fax number listed on their web site, and none of the 7 numbers worked. The numbers were voice line, busy, or disconnected. How can fax be busy at 4 am PST on a Saturday?

The actual complain I have with them was that they charged flood insurance to my account because I have failed to provide prove of insurance. In fact, I have faxed and mailed the prove of insurance to the number and address on the letter I received regarding this matter. After that I was still getting letter asking for the prove, so I finally called. The person I talked to on the phone told me they have moved. How could this national mortgage company did not forward their mail is beyond me.

I faxed the flood insurance document to thefax number, and the letter stopped. A few months has passed. I received new payment coupon to be used to send my regular payment. Some where in this coupon, it listed the insurance they have charged.

EverHome Mortgage is a strictly online mortgage lender. Their use of up to the minute technology and live service support to process the customers application makes for a quick, almost instantaneous, mortgage decision.

My situation involved lender's insurance. In my case, I had the same insurance company for more than 14 years and Everhome was required to pay the annual premium to them directly from my impound account. They failed to do so. They gave many excuses and lied about why it was not paid. In short, they delayed time with false promises over the telephone until they went out and purchased a lender-placed policy. They had the audacity to send me a letter stating they never received evidence of my having hazard insurance and were obligated to secure it having chosen to purchase it from one of their affiliates. Another letter further indicated that Everhome "may" receive a kickback from their affiliate for the lender-placed policy. WTF? The people driving Everhome are recklessly abusing their power in servicing my loan. From research I have been doing they are also being reckless with the other loans they are servicing. Their actions are clearly illegal and I am documenting what I can in order to sue them.

In addition, I recommend no one allow Everhome access to their bank account because they also took money without authorization and followed by attempting to take a monthly payment 3 weeks in ADVANCE of its due date. I immediately cancelled their access to my accounts. Additionally, while my property taxes and mortgage insurance declined, Everhome increased my mortgage payment (on a fixed loan). There is plenty more but I will disclose it in an article I am putting together. I would advise any of the individuals to please document everything in writing [I work in the legal field] and send your written complaint to the Office of Thrift Supervision in DC. They are the federal agency who oversees Everhome's servicing of your loan. BBB cannot and will not resolve your issues with Everhome and neither will Dept of Corporations. Search BBB is of no help if your loan is "sold" to Everhome. I had no control over my loan being turned over to them. I also contacted HUD who never returned my calls. While Office of Thrift Supervision was successful in getting a partial refund to me they have not curbed Everhome's illegal practices. However, shall they receive enough complaints they will buckle down and put a stop to Everhome. This much was relayed to me. So, please contact the correct agency, Office of Thrift Supervision with all your documentation.
