charge off and settled for less than full balance

I had a short sale in October of 2010, and it was agreed that I would pay a “promissory note.” I recently checked TransUnion report, and noticed that the mortgage company reported to the credit bureau “charge off”, but I don’t see the promissory note reported. CBCInnovis shows “settled for less than full balance.” Do you know what I need to do have both the charge off and settled for less than full balance removed?
Hi kjstroud!

Welcome to forums!

If the debt has been charged off, then the collection agency will contact you and you need to pay it off in order to get rid of it. However, the negative item will remain in your credit report for the next 7 years.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
