How can I get it off credit?

Posted on: 02nd Mar, 2012 02:28 am
I have a debt on my credit report which I want to get rid of. It is really old - over 5 years or more. My credit report says that the date opened is 10/07 and the DLA is 06/06. It is from a dentist bill. I'm not sure if I say the dentist last in 2006. I think it was may be 2005. I just don't have the money to pay it off, and it is the last thing on my credit report now. I need some advice on what to do. Thanks.
You haven't mentioned the state you live in. You should check out the SOL period as per your state laws for such debts. If the debt is passed SOL, then no legal actions can be taken against you. If the date of last payment is incorrect, you can send the required proof to the CRAs and get it corrected.

Hi Mansion,

If your debt falls within the SOL period, then it is always a better option to pay off the debts. You can contact the creditor/collection agency and set up a payment plan to pay off the debt. This will not only help you in getting rid of the debt but it will also have a positive impact on your credit report.

Thanks
