Disputing a collection

Posted on: 14th May, 2012 01:26 am
Could someone explain to me why that when you dispute a collection, it makes the account look newer? I am kind of confused because the DOFD, and the date assigned do not change, just the reporting date.
Hi Kitty,

As far as I know, disputing an account won't make it look new. Only the status of the account will be updated as "disputed".

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi Kitty!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I know, it is the date of first default (DOFD) which will be taken into consideration by any lender or creditor. If that has not changed, then I don't think you need to worry too much about this.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
