dying husband

my husband has credit card bills. We live in Ca and own a
mfg. home with joint tenants of survivorship deed. Am I responsible for his credit card bills that I did not sign?

Will they put a lien on house after he dies? The house should
be mine automatically upon his death, but do all the bills follow.

Only married for one year, some credit card debt was originated
before marriage....
Hi suebing!

Welcome to the forums!

If your name is not mentioned on the credit card, then you will not be responsible for any credit card bills. If the credit card bills are not paid off on time and if his name is mentioned on the property deed, then his creditors will be able to place a lien on the property if they get a judgment.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Hi suebing,

You can ask him to remove his name from the property deed in order to safeguard it from the creditors.

Thanks
