Credit report has new information

Posted on: 11th Apr, 2012 03:02 am
Today I received an alert mentioning that my credit report has new information. When I checked it, I found that my creditors show a charge off for March. I thought they could not do that since I filed in beginning of month of March. Can I get this removed? I know I am working on cleaning up a little early but I thought it won’t hurt anything to start now.
If you have already filed bankruptcy in March, then your creditors won't be able to report any new changes on those accounts in your credit report. You should immediately have a word with your bankruptcy attorney and take his opinion in this matter. He should contact the creditor/collection agency and sort out the matter with them.

Help me understand what you are asking.

You filed bankruptcy and some account included in the bankruptcy showed up as a charge off before the bankruptcy was reported to the credit bureau?
So the account shows as a charge off rather than an account included in bankruptcy?

Keep a copy of your bankruptcy filing and discharge papers so at any time in the future you can provide those papers to verify the account was included in the bankruptcy.

You do not really need to do anything else. But, if you want, wait a few months to see if the bankruptcy notation was put on the account for the purpose of noting such whenever anyone pulls your credit report. If it was not, you can write to the credit bureaus and ask them to correct the account and show the bk notation.
