Company Loan Type APR Est. Pmt.

add wife to deed

Posted on: 24th Dec, 2007 06:03 am
At close of escrow, the loan company had me listed as single rather than married. The escrow officer urged me to have my wife sign an interspousal transfer deed in order for complete the loan process in time for purchase of property. He said that once the purchase is complete, he will revert the interspousal transfer deed. Unfortunately he is no longer available. When I called the assessor recorder's office, they said the title company needs to process this.

Please advise me on how to add my wife to the deed and designate percentage of ownership transfer.
Hi ah_nguyen,

Welcome to the forum.

You can sign an interspousal transfer deed and add you wife on the title. You have to notarized the deed and record it in the county recorder office. You can take help from an attorney to make the deed for you,

Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best of luck,
Happy holidays

you may also add your wife to the title of the property with the help of a quit claim deed. you have to sign the deed as the grantor with your wife's name as the grantee. the deed has to be notarized and recorded at the county recorder's office in order to make it valid.

you may take the help of an attorney if that is required.

Hi,

Welcome to Mortgagefit discussion board.

Interspousal deed and quitclaim deed is more or less similar. You should contact with an attorney and he will prepare the deed for you. You will have to sign the deed in the presence of the notary public as a grantor to add your wife on the title and then record the deed in the County Recorder office.

Do let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks
Blue

Someone else at the title company can handle this for you. I would try reaching the title company again and maybe speak with a manager that could direct you to the right person to handle this for you.
