Hard Collection Companies

Posted on: 07th Jan, 2006 01:18 pm
I recently had a conversation with a guy from a company called ApexFinancial, LLC here in Arizona. He informed me that his company has been around for a couple of years now and they deal with purchasing charged off accounts. They bought MBNA, Capital One Bank, Wells Fargo Accounts and private student loan accounts. He seemed very pleased with dropping names on who he bought these account from and how little they paid for each account. So if anyone out there has any one of these accounts this is another name of a Hard Collection Company that will do what Wolpoff and Abramson does.
Wolpoff and Abramson is also opening a call center here in Arizona in the near future.

Bud Hibbs is an attorney who gives the actual truth about these kinds of collection companies.

Sometimes I feel like doing that but they probaly would keep calling anyway. Best bet is to just not pick up.

They probably think that you are Kimberly, LOL. I know it is not funny but I have answered the phone and said that I was not home. All it does is prolong the inevitable. You need to find a way to make them believe that you are truly not Kimberly. goodluck

Don't know how to do that. I have tried everything. One even had the audacity to suggest I change MY number.

I think the phone company should let you change it for free, if I were you it would have been changed the first week.

Well sorta. I got it back on Jan. 2. I weeded out all the calls that weren't for me and thought it was over with but it never stops. I even had to fight with the phone company after they hooked up my phone cause I had no long distance. When I called and asked why they said I owed on a back bill and until it was paid they wouldn't turn it on. It was the lady's past bill for this number not mine. They apologized fot the mix up and gave me $10 off per month for 5 months as a "courtesy". So they know the problems with this number. Most recently I have had my internet disconnected that is why I haven't been on. This interenet company was updating their records and found I owed on a past bill so they shut off my service and left me a message on the voiced mail to call them. I even had this month paid. It took forever to get a person on the phone and forever to clear this up. After I finish using what I pasid for this month I told them I am going to another comapny. Seriously this NEVER quits. I will n ot pay to change this number. I do not have the cash .work REALLY sucks bad. And to top it all off with extra creamy icing...hubbies truck broke down...YES I love my life.

Oh, you have to love life, when it rains it pours right???? I feel for you fireyone, I just got paid today and the majority of my money is gone already, two more weeks to go and I will be broke again. Hang in there, it gets better, and better, and better, and better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you take a break through out the year and do anything? Probably with the price of everything we will just do a one day deal some where, was looking at Penns cave and with the price of gas that will not be a cheap trip either, figure it will be about a $150 day. Tooooooooo much

We are actually beach bound at the end of june. I know it probaly isn't the best time finacially but I need away from here. My hubbys work always gives us tickets to Idlewild Park. The rides are free and they provide the meal so all we pay is for gas to get there and games. We are allowed family members. They are welcome to the luncheon but have to buy their own tickets. There are always people not using theirs so we get those ones too. Trying to figure out who to ask to go with us this year. I want to stop on the way back and check out the cemeteries. So I have to make sure whoever I ask to go knows their way back without following us. I use to take my sister and her kids but they alreadt are going another time. Guess I will have to find SOMEONE else who can use three free admissions.

What time frame of the year does this happen? When you say they have to pay for their own tickets, what does this entail? Aren't the tickets to the park quite expensive?
Posted on: 23rd May, 2008 03:47 am
July 12. Its a Saturday. No price for tickets...we got a buddies extra tickets. Each mine employee gets free tickets for their family. We got 4. My hubbies bro-in-law that works in the mine with him gave us his free tickets since they aren't going. That gives us 9 FREE (but yes if ya had to buy them expensive) tickets. We will probaly use 4 cause our daughter may take someone to ride the big kid rides with. So now I have to find a couple extra people. My bro who is on a states vacation may be out by then but that is only 2 more. (which =6) So that leaves three FREE tickets leftover. Problem is I HAVE to use them because the employer gets highly upset at people who apply for the FREE tickets and don't use them.

OOPS and they also get upset because they cater in food for everyone so they go by the number of tickets requested. Anyone can go to that..Any family member can enjoy FREE food. Its pretty good too..even ice cream.mmmmmmm So like I said the only expense is your gas and what you spend on games and junk food in the park. Not bad HUH?

Not bad at all and how nice that the company puts this out there for the employees, where I work there are no family perks like this, enjoy them. Is the company fairly big size? What does your husband do fireyone?

Back to the original subject of the post, lol

The best way to get rid of collection activity is to pay the bill but if you feel that you do not owe the bill or part of the bill the best thing to do is debt validation. Simply write them a letter stating that you would like the details of the debt broken down to all elements, fees, principal, etc, etc. If the company is a legitimate collector they should provide this information to you with little or no hassle. Keep copies of all request to the company because you may need them in a future date for dispute. Once the company provides you with the information that you have requested then you can take the necessary steps to correct what you feel is wrong by filing a dispute. YOu will need hard proof, cancelled checks, reciepts something to show that you did indeed pay the bill and are disagreeing with the amount for good reason.

again keep copies, you never know what their responses will be and you may need them at a later date.

Hi erb and welcome to the forums, I have seen you on the other forums as well, good to have you here also.

I do agree with everything that you have written here, especially the part where you tell them to keep copies of everything, I have ran into instances where I needed the information and did not have it. So, this is great information.

Again, thanks for the welcome.

I used to work in an agency that dealt with individuals that could not manage their own money so they had representative payees assigned to them through the social security office, these individuals were given a weekly allowance after all the bills were paid. They had a checking account but had a payee name on it also.

This does not have to be an agency, it can be another individual or a family member, anyone capable and truthful enough to pay what is obligated by the person on social security so that they can maintain housing, food, shelter and pay all their bills.

It is also the responsibility of this person to make sure that situations such as garnishments do not happen to this person.
