need help locating these two companies they are scam artists like sjm marketing please
Consumers you have the ability through your bank to reject any deposits made to your account. The effort you put into reviewing your account for unauthorized debits can also be used to spot unauthorized deposits dont except the money then complain later that you got a loan you didnt want after you have already spent the money

My husband and i have been getting harrassed for the last past months by a lady claiming to be an investigator named linda brown. She is threatening to have myself,my husband and his 4 references arrested. She has been very nasty...what should we do?

Hi Nonnie!

Welcome to forums!

I guess your husband and you have taken a payday loan and did not pay it off. If you do not pay off the payday loan, then the creditor can come after you for the deficient amount. However, if you have paid off their dues, then you can ask them not to harass you. You may even send them the documents related to the pay off. If the creditor still harasses you, then you can contact an attorney and take legal steps against them.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Nonnie, if "Ms. Brown" is simply a collections agent, certainly double check with your state attorney general's consumer protection division and your banking department, but I don't believe that debt collectors are allowed to threaten any action that they legally are not allowed to take. Don't quote me, as I'm not an attorney, but I believe doing things like threatening arrest in an attempt to collect a debt is a no-no. That may be covered under FDCPA law. Definitely worth a look.

If at all possible get evidence of this either in writing or, if allowed in your state, record the conversation, assuming that these threats are made over the phone. If, by some chance, you have them on voice mail or an answering machine then by all means do whatever you can to copy and preserve them. Remember too, that while you may very well be responsible for the debt itself, unless I'm mistaken - and someone please correct me if I am - you are under no obligation to speak to or communicate any information in any manner to a debt collector.

Comedian Tom Mabe has a great bit on how he deals with telemarketers. Not quite the same as debt collectors but close.

Due to a family emergency I did something really stupid and applied for a online payday loan, The original company was Loan point Usa I thought they would take money from my account every two weeks on payday but instead they just took when ever 90 dollars here and 180 there making overdrafts and a heck of a mess. Time went on and this lady calls me at work saying I now owe them $1100 dollars in fees and penaltys. I did take out the loan but could not figure out how the amount increased so much, I asked for her to send me all the legal paperwork on my account since she said she was with a collection agency she should have this, She stated that she would send a emal with a payment plan, Well when the email came it look like a grade school student had typed it up the dates were crazy and it had type errors certainly not a legal document. There was also a little blurb at the bottom that stated Geneva, Roth Ventures was now handling my account and there would be a additonal five dollar fee for each 100 they will with draw. I live in Washington state could you tell me the best way to handle a complaint on this company..Thank you

You can contact the State Attorney General and file a complaint against the payday loan company. You can also contact the BBB and file a complaint against them.

Hi ehk,

Did you contact the local lenders in order to get a mortgage? If not, then I would suggest you to contact the lenders of your area and get pre-approved for a loan. Depending upon your income, debt to income ratio and your credit score, the lender will let you know whether or not you would get a loan. This community, too, has a large number of lenders. You should seek a no obligation free mortgage consultation from them which will give you an idea whether or not you would get a loan.

Thanks

Well you all can do as I did I filed a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission then after you do that go to your local small claims court and file a civil law suite in most states under code 806 of the FDCPA you can be awarded up to $1000.00

The DJR Group collection agencies are calling me at work and calling my
supervisor. They said they have issued incremidation orders to have me
prosecuted when I called them back unless I paid them a certain amount
by today. They said that I could be prosecuted for internet fraud, theft, I
told them I would send them some form of payment when I got paid. But
the investigator told me I need to call him and get some money today. He
said DJR group is a federal lending agency and I did not think any of these
internet payday loans are. Can I be prosecuted? Arent they suppose to
stop calling your supervisors once you tell them to because isnt this harrassment? I told them I would work with them.

Hi Lowell,

They cannot call you at work when you've categorically informed them to stop calling you. If you've taken a loan from them, then they can sue you in order to recover the dues. However, you can contact an attorney and take his opinion in this matter. He will guide you further in this regard.

Thanks
