Geneva Roth Loan...DESPERATE!

Posted on: 12th Mar, 2008 07:13 am
I applied for a payday loan over six months ago, something that I intensely regret. I got the money, and called them several times for the email requesting to be able to pay it in full. Never got it. I was charged $90 every single week (or at least twice a week) for now more than six months. I was able to place a stop payment on my bank from Geneva Roth, so my money would be returned every time they charged. Now they are calling me (a woman named Mrs. Mithchell) telling me that I have to pay $120 twice a week, since I know owe $1200. They call me everyday, and threaten me by saying they will send my file to attorneys, and mess up my social security, and even take this to legal matters. I am 26 years old, made a big mistake, and now don't even have the money to pay $1200. I did have the $300 to pay back, but they never sent the file!!! I do not know what to do. I payed one payment of $120 but I am really scared they will do something with fraud. I live in CT. Anyone can help PLEASE!! I am very desperate....I am a student with very limited income.
Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Complaints against Geneva Roth are coming almost everyday here in this forum. Geneva Roth is nothing but a loan shark company. If you have been harassed by them you need to file complaints with the FTC, BBB, Economic Crime Division and the Attorney General's office in your states.

Best of luck,
Larry

What if I contacted FIC and they really couldn't help? I just want to pay the amount I really owed, what they lent me. The $300. Not the new $1200 when it's not my fault they changed the number and never could get the form. I don't know what else to do.

well Lination, this is really surprising. I hear people not being able to pay. But you're a guy who can pay and at least the company isn't taking the amount and ending the deal entirely. That's just because they want to take more and more cash from you. But i suppose you file the complaint with FTC , I'm sure they'll help but do ask them how long they'll take.

Alternatively you may file a complaint with your state Attorney General . Hopefully filing complaints does work because these are meant to protect consumers.

I am being harrassed as well and I am a single parent with 4 children working to make ends meat. I want to pay them the 425.oo and now they say that I owe them 650.oo and I want to pay them the money, but want to mail it and there is a guy there that told me that i need to buy a prepaid card and have them take it off of that. I told him I wanted to mail it in and he told me that was not possible. I do not see why I can not pay them by certified mail. They are telling me that they are going to turn it over to an attorney & I am also scared of that...because If i loose my job, I will never be able to pay them. What do we do? I will not ever take one of these loans out again!!! Big Mistake. I am in Texas...

Hi Dana.

Welcome to the forum. I cannot understand why you cannot pay then off. That's how they harass people. As they have threatened you, I think you should file complaints against them ASAP with the Attorney General's office in your state.

Best of luck,
Larry

My problem with them is I never even signed any thing or said I would accept the loan and all of a sudden after looking back at my bank statements there was 500.00 in my bank account from them...however it came the same day as my paycheck and after paying bills without knowing I was using their money...I all of a sudden got $150.00 taken out of my account for the past 4 months now....I can't believe without a signature or something that they can just put money in peoples accounts...I will fight them tooth and nail if I have to!!!!
