2Two days before my husband filed for divorice, he bought a home for me in a different state...He has never lived here. Without my consent, he put the loan in his name only, and I have made all the payments. I want to return to my old job in IL. This house is in MO. We both agreed to put it up for sale, but it's not selling. I want to stop paying the loan, and have the utillites put in his name so I can move. I have kept this house in very good condition, and never been late with a payment. I have not found a job here (since Aug.) when I moved in, and I support my daughter, and pay the bills on the 1,200 a month he pays in support.
Hi Hisprettyone,

Since you don't have your name on the mortgage, therefore, even if you don't make payments, it will not affect your credit. When you don't pay, your husband needs to pay in order to keep the home.

Do your have your name on the title? If you have plans to move out, I guess the best thing would be to request the lender to allow you for a deed in lieu. However, the deed in lieu is likely to affect your husband's credit score and bring it down by 200-250 points.

Take care

I spoke with my ex and he told me that he bought this house on a line of equity that he has been using to buy other things for his house in IL. My name is on the deed next to his with this "husband and wife.

I am not able to claim anything on this house for my taxes- he will claim everything. He will also claim my only income- my support of 1,200 a month. I will check out this deed in lieu. If you could please reply- your help has eased my mind a great deal. Thank you.
