BK Chap 7 discharged 2009, mortgage was reaffirmed, now 5 months behind on payment, didn't qualify for loan mod and is waiting to be foreclosed on, should we try to qualify to buy another house that would be more affordable or wait until foreclosed, then wait 3 years to buy another house?

You can apply for a mortgage in order to buy a new property. However, there are chances that the lender will want you to get rid of the previous property before he gives you a loan.
