when does a federal tax lien released and what should be done if I do not receive any confirmation of its release. Thanks
Foley,

The federal tax lien is released by IRS after the tax liability is paid off, becomes legally unenforceable because of lapse of time or when IRS receives a bond for the payment of the tax.

If you have paid the tax then within 30 days the lien is released by IRS otherwise you can ask for a Certificate of Release of Federal Tax Lien.

#Date of your request
#Name & address of the taxpayer (in this case your name & address)
#Copy of the Notice of Federal Tax Lien which you want released
#Why you want the lien to be released
#Your telephone number

If you have paid the tax, enclose any of the following -
