judgment on property

Posted on: 18th May, 2007 02:04 pm
I had a judgment against me and the creditor got a lien on my property, now if I pay it off, how do I get the lien removed from property
Hi Simonsen,

Welcome to Mortgagefit forum.

After you pay off the judgment, its legal responsibility of your creditor to prepare & sign what is called Satisfaction of Judgment. It then is required to be filed by creditor with County Clerk's Office or to be given to you so that you can file it yourself.

Additionally, this satisfaction of judgment is also required to be filed with City Court.

Hi Velez,

Welcome to Mortgagefit discussion board.

After a creditor is able to put a judgment lien on your property it will remain for 10 yrs., after this period is over he can get it renewed for another 10 years.

Do let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks
Blue
