The husband of a friend, had a child with someone else while married to her and he won't give her an address where he is living. He has not paid his share of the mortgage and now the mortgage co. wants 6,000.00 to stop the forclosure of the property. how can we save her from losing her house. Her name is also on the car he is driving. How do we get her off of that also?
bonnie, your friend should contact the mortgage company and tell the details on how it is becoming difficult for her to make the payments on her own and her husband is not contributing. she should also ask if any loss mitigation plan would be possible to help bring the mortgage out of defaults.

As mentioned by Nicss, you can go through some of the loss mitigation options that you have to discuss with the mortgage company from this page: http://www.mortgagefit.com/loss-mitigation.html

"Her name is also on the car he is driving. How do we get her off of that also?"

Do you mean that he is not giving back the car? If it is so then she should complain to police.

Here is what i whould do.
1. File for divorce - that will make him appea in court and therefore he will have to disclose his location.
2. Report the car stolen. - Next time the police will stop him he is going to jail and you can get the police report with his address.

As far as payments on the mortgage, unfortinutely its your responcibility since you are also on the loan. It hurts his credit just as it hurts yours. Ask your lender about your options but most likely they wont care.

Is there a car loan and you want to remove her name from the loan?

Hi Bonnie,

I really feel sad for your friend.

She should immediately talk to her lender and make him well understand of her situation. If her husband is not making payments towards his share of the loan, it will affect his credit score negatively. To save her house from foreclosure, she can try with some loss mitigation plans what other community members have suggested.
