can the mortgager attach any 401k accounts or money market accounts or cd's if I default on my mortgage...in Michigan

As far as I know, your lender will not be able to garnish your retirement account. However, they may be able to garnish your savings account. In order to do so, they will have to file a lawsuit against you in the court and get a judgment.
