Assuming mortgage loan

Posted on: 16th Mar, 2014 02:24 pm
My husband passed away recently . We had bought our home together in 1986 and both our names were on the loan and title. After his death, I found my name was no longer on the loan and even after showing ample written proof of his death and our purchase together, the mortgage company refuses to discuss anything with me. I pay the mortgage every month and need to try to get it lowered. How do I assume the loan?
This is indeed absurd that after his death, your name vanished from the loan and title. I think you should consult an attorney.
