Can you help me understand our church deed?

Posted on: 16th Feb, 2011 11:16 pm
Our church deed was formed in 1968 in Mississippi and is listed to "Ed Jones, Bill Crum, Glen Smith Trustees of Grace Chapel, an unincorporated religious society, and their successors in office". Glen Smith is deceased. Bill Crum is no longer a member of our church. After Ed Jones dies, who will own the church? Would Bill Crum have any legal claim to our church if he is no longer a member or elected official of the church? Does "successors in office" mean the current elected church officials or would it mean family inheritors of the men listed in the deed (ex. Ed Jones' son)?
Hi gospelmusic!

Welcome to forums!

As Bill Crum's name is mentioned on the quitclaim deed, then he will be considered as one of the owners of the property. Nevertheless, it will be better if you could contact a real estate attorney and take his/her opinion in this matter.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
