i have been divorced for seven years. my ex-husband's name is still on the deed and the mortgage. i have been making the mortgage payments faithfully and on time since the divorce. at the time of the divorce it was decided and is in the divorce decree that if i sell the house he gets 9000.00 for his share of the equity. i want him to quit claim deed it over to me so that the deed is in my name. is there anything else that needs to be done so that he has no ties to the house?
Hi,

Welcome to the Mortgagefit, you cannot remove his name from deed without his agreement to sing quit claim deed. If his name is on property he will be eligible to get 9000 of his share by equity. You may ask to your attorney for further actions.

Happy to help you.

Thanks & regards,
