We signed a lease to own agreement for 5 years, with a portion of our rent going toward a down payment if/when we decided to purchase. We had some late rent payments, but landlord accepted all monies and late fees, but now says we are just renting and has decided to sell. We were never notified that our agreement had changed.
Your agreement can't change unless both of you agree to it. Your landlord has no legal right to change the agreement unilaterally, unless there's a clause in it that says the deal is off if you miss any of the monthly payments.

Hi dalvis,

It will be better if you could contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this regard. You can show the agreement to him and he will clarify the matter.

Thanks.

Speak up with your attorney and tell him in details as to what has exactly happened. Show him the agreement. He will be able to provide you a suitable solution to your problem.

When did you sign the agreement? The agreement is binding till 5 years are over. Consult an attorney.
