what to do after default on car loan?

Posted on: 23rd Sep, 2009 04:12 pm
I've recently lost my car because of lack of work..The bank where i had the loan is trying to collect the money, which i'm trying to pay...The attoreny i spoke to today had said that there goin to put a lien on my fathers home because he was the co-signer,which the overall balance due is $6000..So my question is will that mess up anything with his mortage?
Hi seanphifer!

Welcome to forums!

The lien will be placed on your father's property. I don't think it would mess up the mortgage if you father regularly pays off the mortgage dues. However, if the property is sold off for some reason, the lien will be satisfied from the sale proceeds.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
