i have a 78000 mortgage for 7 years paying 6% through countrywide, and are not behind on payments! I've been out of work 2 years and will be falling back on payments soon!!! i owe 67000 on mortgage. can i get government help>

No, government can't help you. Try to refiance mortgage with low intrest rate so you can decrease due of the mortgage payments.

As far as i know if you making payments on time they will not ask for your income.

Is there equity in the home? If you're ~ 50-60% LTV, meaning the home is worth ~110-120K then you may qualify. Have you tried that route? -cp

PS: You do need to be 62yrs or older in order to qualify. Forgot to mention that.

If you have NO income coming in but are living off of savings then you maybe able to apply for some type of assistance... If you are not behind you could try to refinance if you have good credit. Bank of America has a lot of options...
