I need to file Chapter 7

Posted on: 10th Sep, 2012 12:16 am
I'm 21 years old, I've been on my own since I was 16, and the past two years have been difficult. I live in Indiana, and I have a student loan that I am behind on, I had to have a very serious surgery and I now have a medical bill of $16,000, and I am trying to catch up on a payday loan. I work full time, make minimum wage, and pay my rent, electric bill, and phone bill every month, and use what is left for food. I do not have internet, cable, or anything like that, and I own next to nothing. I have a futon, my mattress, a couple tables, the TV I grew up with, books, and the same clothes I've had since I was 18. I looked into bankruptcy and I think that I need to file Chapter 7, but I can't afford it. I know that there are people out there who are worse off than I am, I really do, but I'm scared, I'm broke, I'm on my own, and I don't know what to do. Please help!
hi qualis,

you should contact a bankruptcy attorney and check out the option of chapter 13 bankruptcy filing. if you qualify for that, then you will get an affordable payment plan to pay off the debts.

thanks,

jerry

Hello Qualis,

When you're talking about whether or not to file Chapter 7, the first consideration will naturally be the state of your finances. If you're late paying your car bill this month, it's probably not enough reason to consider filing for bankruptcy.
