Struggling homeowners

Posted on: 05th Jul, 2012 12:08 am
I see there are wonderful programs out there for struggling homeowners but when I look at the eligibility criteria; a requirement is usually you must live in the property. Are there any programs out there for property owners with rental homes that are severely underwater? Thanks!
Hi Cavaet,

I doubt whether there are any such programs. Most of the programs to help underwater home-owners specifically mentions that you should be presently living in the underwater home. Investment properties hardly qualify for such programs.

Thanks

if you are current on the home, then you may qualify for the harp refinance programs. you home must have been guaranteed by fannie mae or freddie mac before may 2009, and you must be current and able to document income...

I have also some confusion about existence of such kind of real estate programs. So that people would easily get home for them. Thanks a lot for discussing this topic in this thread.
