Divorce, deed, mortgage!!!

Posted on: 18th Aug, 2010 11:33 pm
I took my name off the deed of my marital home when I got a divorce. My name is still on the mortgage loan since my ex can not obtain a new mortgage. I no longer have claim for the house since more than a year. When I would need a mortgage in order to buy my own home - would the mortgage company take my previous mortgage off the libilities part basing it on the deed or will they still concider it as my libility since my name is still on the mortgage?
Thanks - Dee
hi,

as you say your name still on mortgage, if this mortgage has been fully paid, its doesn't matters in getting new mortgage.

but if its not fully paid off it will create problem in getting new mortgage for buying new home.

you may get your name off from the mortgage, simply refinance mortgage to your ex. you name mentioned on mortgage mean you are responsible for this mortgage. so try to get name off from mortgage before applying for new mortgage.

thanks & regards.
