stop a short sell

Posted on: 20th Aug, 2012 08:59 pm
my home was in foreclosure proceedings the bank denied the modification based on the information my husband the mortgagee sent to them. i am on the title of the property but not on the mortgage.my husband the mortgagee handed over our keys to a realtor for short sale. i found out by a phone call. im still living in the house with a lock box on the front door. is there anything i can do to stop the short sell and retain ownership of my home?
Hi sandra!

Welcome to forums!

It will be difficult for you to stop the short sale. The lender has the right to recover the mortgage through short sale if he does not receive the payments on time. The lender may offer you a certain sum of money and ask you to leave the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Welcome sandra,

You can contact a real estate attorney and take his help in dealing with the lender. He may assist you in knowing what steps you can take to stop the short sale.
