time share auth. user obligation

5 years ago my partner and I decided to get a time share. My credit was horrible, however his was good.

He purchased a point based time share in California and placed me on the account as authorized user. I do not recall signing any contracts or providing my ss#.

Recently we have been hit by the bad economy and he had to file bankruptcy, which included the time share.

Now the time share is sending collection agency's after me and are reporting missed payments to all 3 credit agencies for me.

Additionally, they are reporting as a joint account.

How can I make them stop?
How can I have my credit restored without the timeshare?
Is this legal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi glfischer!

Welcome to forums!

You need to check out whether or not your name is mentioned on the concerned deed. If your name is mentioned on the deed and if you're liable for the payments, then the timeshare company can come after you to recover the dues though your partner files bankruptcy. The bankruptcy discharge will release your partner from the personal liability of paying off the dues.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
