Property Deed Deceased Father

Posted on: 05th Dec, 2013 06:01 am
Hello,

My father purchased land for me in Georgia while away on vacation back in 99. The deed was placed in his name since of course I was not present.

I have been paying the taxes on the land since being purchased.

My father passed away 3 years ago and we never transferred the deed over to my name. He did not have a will. I finally found the deed after going to his mounds of boxes he had stored away.

How can I place the deed in my name? Do I need to?
Hi Guest,

Yes, of course you will have to get the deed transferred in your name. You can file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your name.

Thanks
