Quit Claim

Posted on: 09th May, 2007 06:07 pm
my father had put me down on a quit claim deed and i did send in a claim form to get the interest from the property that was sold at auction. my question is pertaining to a gentleman who keeps calling my daughter and has sent me 2 certified letters wanting to give me $3,000 if i turn over the lot to him. my daughter just spoke to him today and told him that i'm already claiming the money from the quit claim deed. he said that it wasn't about the money that after i get the funds i'm getting that he still wants to buy the lot from me. how can i own part of the lot if it was put up for auction and purchased by someone in las vegas? he is saying that he doesn't want to go thru 6mos- a year to get the title free and clear. in other words a quiet title. do i still own something even though i've turned in a claim form? i'm totally confused now. thanks for any help on this.
Welcome Peejo,

No, I don't think you own any part of the property as it is already purchased by someone and you have claimed for your share of it. You cannot really turn over the property to someone when it's already been sold. I think you should clearly tell him that it is not possible for you legally.

"How can I own part of the lot if it was put up for auction and purchased by someone in Las Vegas?"

If someone else has purchased then that gentleman is making a mistake contacting you regarding the lot. You should explain it to him and ask him to contact the person who has purchased it.
