can i buy land if there is no deed?

Posted on: 03rd Sep, 2010 04:33 pm
i have found some property that i am interested in purchasing. there is a trailer on the property that has been there for years. the couple that lived on the property has passed away and now their daughter has moved into the trailer. i went to the county tax office and found out that the couple never owned the property or paid taxes on it. they basically "sqautted" on the property. the listed owner of the property is a coal company but neither they or the recorder of deeds has a deed. what can i do to purchase this land?
can anyone help?

Hi joshuaeori!

Welcome to forums!

It won't be a good option to buy the property if there is no deed for it. You should contact a real estate attorney and check out if you can get a deed for that property. If you get a deed, then you might go ahead with the deal of buying the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
