My grandparents left land to my father and his other 9 siblings. My father is now deceased and I need to know if he and his spouse had filed for divorce and it was in process at the time of his death, is she entitled to any portion of this heir property and if so how big of portion can she get?
Hi mzdgr!

Welcome to forums!

If your father had added his spouse to the property deed, then she can claim a portion of the property. You need to check out the property deed to know if she was one of the owners of the property. Alternatively, you can contact an attorney and take his opinion in this regard.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Soon after my wife and I married, her father died and left a parcel of land. We both signed the deed, now, 6 years later, she wants to file for divorce. Can I get a share of the value of the property?

Hi Peyton!

Welcome to the forums!

If your name is mentioned on the property deed of that parcel of the land, then you can claim your share of the value of the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

My deceased mom and dad owned a home oint tenants in entirety specifying heirs and or assign on deed. My pre deceased only sibling only child wants half of property value. He possibly stole the will. I have lived in the home all my life and have kept up taxes and extensive maintenance and improvement. What is my entitlement and his in DC

Hi marily,

Well, it is difficult to say as to what you will be entitled to. It will be better if you could get in touch with a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this regard.

Thanks
