My mother passed away on March 3, 3008 and we just received the change of title to mine and my brother's name. I have been told there is a cutoff date to homestead your home. Is this true? We live in Harris County, Tx and I just need help figuring out what I need to do? Thank you.

I haven't heard much about cut off date to homestead one's property. It will be better if you can contact the county clerk's office and get the correct information from them. You will also get the homestead form from the clerk's office.
