How to get homestead expemption

Posted on: 15th Aug, 2012 06:15 pm
This is my situation. My husband and I needed to get out of our rent house FAST. We found a home to buy and didnt qualify due to him being self employed for only 1 year. My parents bought the house for us. When paperwork was submitted for pre-qualifications my name was included. When the paperwork was ready to be signed somewhere in underwriting my name got left off. When prompted about this they told me they would have to start from scratch and it would take from 1-4 months. I didnt have that kind of time.So now, I can not file homestead exemption now. Is there anything my parents can do to get my mortgage to where i can find homestead exemption? Thanks!
Hello walker,

If the equity of your residential properties is less than the limit specified under the homestead exemptions for personal bankruptcy, you can easily protect your home from the terrifying claws of your creditors. Your house, in that case, will not be sold in order to pay the creditors' bills.

Hi walker,

Unless your name is included in the property and the mortgage, you won't be able to apply for homestead exemptions.

Thanks
