Income taxes with a Quit Claim Deed

Posted on: 31st Jan, 2012 05:19 pm
I recently acquired a property from my father in law for rental. What do I have to do to claim this property for my income taxes?
Hi Toddad,

Well, I don't think it should be included in your income taxes. Nevertheless, you should contact a tax adviser and take his opinion in this matter.

Thanks

Once the deed is recorded, the new "owner" will start receiving bills for the property taxes and other municipal assessments.
