What form does my ex husband & I need to fill out if I want to release myself from all liability including debt on a property I was awarded to as part of our marital settlement agreement, which has incurred alot of debt for these 2 years. He never completed an interspousal transfer deed, and the title is still in his name & on his credit.
hi nora,
welcome to the forum.
do you stay in a community property state? if not then you may need not to transfer the deed as you have said "the title is still in his name & on his credit."
are you on the on the mortgage? if so then your ex husband needs to refinance the mortgage on his name to release you from the mortgage.
best of luck,
larry

you must complete transfer by deed immediately. If your ex has liened the property you are out of luck. Otherwise, you are not responsible for his debts.
