Remove name from deed

Posted on: 24th Aug, 2009 02:22 pm
My mother passed away and left her house to me since I was living with her. Out of the kindness of my heart, I added my brothers name to the deed. I don't make much money and can't afford the property taxes but I can't have them reduced now with my brother's name on the house. Can I have his name removed from the deed without him signing anything?
Hi slmkem!

Welcome to forums!

Your brother will have to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you. You cannot have his name removed from the property without his signing the documents.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
