I signed a interspusal transfer deed. I have horrible credit and I had a credit judgment placed against me. We are paying that off at the close of escrow. My husband has great credit, got a great loan, low rate and the bank and title company said that i needed to sign it.
My only concern is how can we go around it to that if something did happen to him I wouldnt be left out in the cold? Without ahome?
We live in California. Would a will protect us? California community property?

California is a community state law.
if something goes wrong with your husband, you will be covered.
But you can not go back with interspousal deed. & in case of divorce, it will be a problem for you.

Hi erin_castro,
Though California is a community property state, as you've signed an interspousal deed, you've no rights on that property. You can ask your husband to draft a will and declare you as the heir to the property. If he drafts a will, then you can probate it and claim the property as yours after his death.
Thanks
