Can I sell house if mother goes to nursing home

Posted on: 19th Aug, 2012 10:38 am
my mother did a quit claim deed to me 15 years ago. now she has to go into nursing home or have home health care. can they put a lean on her home and do i have to pay back any money owed for nursing care or can i sell her house.
Hi Dee,

If the property is in your name for the past 15 years, then they can't force you to transfer your property back to your mother so that they can place a lien on it.

Thanks

Hi Dee!

Welcome to forums!

As the quitclaim deed was signed 15 years ago, I don't think that the health care department will be able to force you to transfer back the property to your mother.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
