I want to remove my ex-boyfriend from my mortgage. Will a warranty deed be sufficient?
Hi angelsails,
A warranty deed is a legal document that conveys the title to someone, stating that the title is clear and free of liens. This does not add or remove someone from the mortgage. If you want to remove your co-borrower from the mortgage, you can simply ask the lender to remove his name. But it's up to the lender whether or not they will allow it. The other option would be to make him quit claim deed his share in the property to you and then have it refinanced in your name.
