i can't get a straight answer as to where i am on the section 8 waiting list . is there any way to find out without having to go thru my local housing office?

You need to get in touch with the Housing and Urban Development depatment of your city to know the status of your section 8 application or where you are on the waiting list. You can also contact the same place from where you applied for the section 8.
